This is a common misconception.
Lean originated within the car manufacturing industry from a need to reduce waste. Six Sigma was introduced in the telecommunications sector in the 1980s.
Over the years, both methods have been adopted in every kind of organisation from hospitality, to IT, to retail.
We see this wide variety of backgrounds on every public Lean Six Sigma Green Belt course we run.
Is lean six sigma only suited to larger organisations?
No, lean six sigma can be effective in organisations of every size and type. The essence of lean six sigma is to reduce waste and variation.
These are concerns for every business or organisation, regardless of size. Therefore, the implementation of lean six sigma is beneficial anywhere.
